Global Aviator was launched mid-2009 and in the past five years the magazine has shown constant growth with an ever-increasing readership.
Readers have been provided with a magazine in which the emphasis has always been on excellent quality with articles ranging from pilot experiences, technical, aircraft and helicopter test flights, news from around South Africa as well as from various countries around the world written by well-known international journalists such as Georgina Hunter-Jones, Owen Zupp, Guy Gratton and Helen Krusner.
Locally, attorney Mike Wright keeps us informed on airline news and we have several freelance pilots and journalist who write for Global Aviator.
Publisher Mike de Villiers, was no stranger to aviation when he started Global Aviator. Mike had previously owned SA Flyer which he started in 1995 with long-time friend Mario Vergottini. Mario was a SAAF helicopter pilot and on leaving the air force worked at Denel Aviation on the Rooivalk project.
At the beginning of 2006, having built the magazine into an extremely successful business, he decided to sell SA Flyer to concentrate on other projects.
The bug had bitten
However, once the magazine had bitten the itch remained and in 2009 he decided to start Global Aviator, today another success story with distribution throughout South Africa, surrounding countries and internationally to the USA, UK and several European countries. Locally Global Aviator is printed by Montage Print and distributed through Racing Distributors. It is available at airports and on the internet through Magzter Digital Store and Eezibee.
Global Aviator has a very comprehensive mailing list comprising of aviators, professional and business people reaching those responsible for decision making. Through this list and via other internet connections the magazine is sent to over 100 000 people every month.
Our target readers are those with an interest in aviation that encompasses the lighter aircraft, business jets, military aircraft, helicopters and various other aspects of aviation.
Along with supplying our advertisers and readers with a high quality, informative magazine to read, we want to provide clients with something other than their favourite reading material. Last year we decided to incorporate an annual function into our calendar and with our accounts executive’s experience on the golf course we thought that heading for the greens would be ideal.
Our first very successful Golf Day was held in Parys and this year we have brought it slightly closer to home. On Dec 5, Global Aviator, sponsors, clients and guests will head to the 5 star Blair Atholl Golf and Equestrian Estate for a day of golf.
