AirVenture - "Blue Angels" Ford Mustang salutes 100 years of naval aviation
  • As you plan preview and on-site coverage of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, you and your audience might be interested to know the worlds of Ford Motor Company's iconic Mustang and U.S. Navy aviation join together this year in the new one-off "Blue Angels" Ford Mustang GT, produced exclusively for the world's greatest aviation event.

    The vehicle, paying tribute to the centennial anniversary of naval aviation in the United States Navy, will be auctioned for charity during the Gathering of Eagles event, held the week of EAA AirVenture on July 28, to support the EAA Young Eagles organization, fostering the education of the next generation of young pilots.

    Inspired by the Blue Angels naval aviation performance demonstration team and their F-18 Hornet aircrafts, the "Blue Angels" Mustang features:

    Ford Racing super-charged 5.0L V8 engine, producing 624 horsepower
    Ford Racing components: handling pack, performance exhaust, race track brakes
    Custom paint courtesy of Creations n' Chrome, unlike any other vehicle on the market (chrome blue with "screaming yellow" gloss accents)
    Blue Angels script and crest on the exterior and stitched into the vehicle's leather Recaro racing seats
    Blue Angels script in illuminated sill plates and puddle lamps that project jet images when the doors open Much more

    Mustang Chief Designer Darrell Behmer, Design Manager Melvin Betancourt and Mustang Chief Nameplate Engineer Dave Pericak lead the design and engineering team. Interviews may be available upon request.

    The one-off “Blue Angels” Mustang will be on display in the Ford Hangar at Wittman Regional Airport during much of the week of AirVenture. It is among several new elements and many perennial favorites Ford brings to Oshkosh this year, including:
