May 6 - A Stately Occasion at ExecuJet South Africa
  • ExecuJet South Africa co-hosted The Continental Wings event on 14th April which took place at ExecuJet’s Lanseria facility in Johannesburg in their elaborately staged hangar. More than 600 VIPs, celebrities and special guests were captivated by the lavish event, which included a fashion show, musical entertainment from an aerial trio, dancers on plinths and a sky dancer.
 
May 6 - KZN Wildlife and Kulula Partner to Boost Tourism
  • Kwa-Zulul Natal (KZN) Wildlife and kulula.com today launched a partnership to boost local tourism within South Africa. The airline, in collaboration with KZN Wildlife is offering travel packages including flights, car hire and visits to prime game and nature reserves in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
 
May 3 - Mango to launch Lanseria operation as fifth aircraft comes online
  • - Booking opens tomorrow Low cost airline Mango will launch operations from Lanseria on 1 June 2011, with bookings open at 10:00 on Tuesday 3 May for its inaugural route to and from Cape Town.

  • Comair and Nationwide airlines' claims for hundreds-of-millions in compensation against South African Airways can proceed, following Monday's decision by the Competition Appeal Court.

  • South African investment bank Investec has more than doubled the value of its Australian-based Global Aircraft Fund to $1 billion over the last year.
 
New Interim Director for CAA
  • The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) has appointed Zakhele Thwala as interim Director of Civil Aviation following the departure of Captain Colin Jordaan, whose employment came to an end on December 31.

    Thwala moves from post as deputy director-general at the Department of Transport (DoT), with his responsibility being aviation.
