  • The company is initiating its U.S. activities to celebrate the company’s 100 years of aviation excellence with its SUN ’n FUN fly-in appearance of the Model Year 2011 TBM 850, configured in a unique centennial paint scheme. The special ed ition Model Year 2011 TBM 850 very fast turboprop aircraft carries a distinctive “waves of time” livery, designed by Didier Wolff of Happy Design Studios.
 
Aircraft uses hydrogen-fuel
  • Following its successful maiden flight under battery power in 2010, AeroVironment’s high altitude, long endurance (HALE) Global Observer unmanned aircraft has now taken to the skies using hydrogen-fueled propulsion.
 
NASA reveils new designs
  • NASA has taken the wraps off three concept designs for quiet, energy efficient aircraft that could potentially be ready to fly as soon as 2025.

    The designs come from Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and The Boeing Company.
 
Electronic devices can endanger aircraft
  • The use of electronic devices such as mobile phones, tables and iPods in mid-air may create a "perfect storm" of conditions that can have disastrous consequences, aviation experts have warned.

    An investigation by the New York Times has shown that this happens as most personal electronic devices emit electromagnetic waves which can interfere with a plane’s electronics.
