15 November 2011 : Ethiopian Airline flies to Seychelles
  • Ethiopian Airlines, the fastest growing African Airline, is pleased to announce that it will launch new services to the Seychelles, reinforcing its commitment to strengthen the eastern African network and continue to expand its wings to more African destinations. The new service started on November 15.

  • Senegal on Tuesday banned all planes travelling to or from Guinea from using its airspace following a row over a Senegalese plane grounded in the neighbouring country.

  • Zambezi Airlines has grounded its aircraft following a sudden suspention of its air operating certificate, which was withdrawn over the weekend due to safety concerns.
 
30 July 2011 : Kenya Airways launches passenger program to cut carbon emissions
  • Kenya Airways, the Pride of Africa has announced the launch of a new voluntary Carbon offsetting tool aimed at providing a channel for its customers to contribute towards reducing the effect of carbon emissions by supporting environmental sustainability initiatives. In the unique initiative developed in cooperation with International Air Transport Association (IATA), the airline will now offer its passengers the opportunity to participate directly in offsetting the Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions related to their flights.
 
30 July 2011 : Kenya expands operations into Angola
  • The governments of Kenya and Angola have concluded and signed the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) paving way for Kenya Airways to expand its operations into the Southern Africa country. As a result of the BASA, Kenya will now operate up to 3 weekly frequencies to Angola. For All-cargo operations, Kenya Airways will enter into co-operative arrangements with TAAG- Angolan airlines later in the year when KQ acquires its first freighter B747.
 
23 April: Deal of the Year – Ethiopian Airline
  • Ethiopian Airlines received, "Deal of the Year 2010" Award by Air Finance Journal, a leading financial magazine serving the commercial aviation industry worldwide. According to Air Finance Journal, Ethiopian Airlines won the award in the African category for the package deal to finance its five B777-200LR airplanes and a spare engine. Ethiopian Airlines’ profitable business plan and good history of repaying loans contributed to sealing the deal.
 
NCAA reissues Air Nigeria Air Operator’s Certificate
  • The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has reissued an Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) to Air Nigeria Development Limited in line with the Civil Aviation Act 2006 and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations to continue with passenger and cargo flight operations.
