- SYDNEY, 21 November 2011: Qantas and the Transport Workers Union have failed to reach a new deal on pay and conditions for 3,800 employees, so there will now be binding arbitration by Fair Work Australia.

- SYDNEY, 21 November 2011: Qantas has been unable to reach a new agreement with the Australian Licenced Aircraft Engineers Association (ALAEA) and both parties have concluded that Fair Work Australia will need to resolve the dispute.

- Qantas will run Australia's first commercial flight powered by sustainable fuel, CEO Alan Joyce told an aviation conference in Brisbane today.
30 July 2011 - Qantas pilot stood down for overtime ban
- Qantas has stood down one of its captains following his threat to go on strike. The Australian and International Pilots Association's (AIPA) has an ongoing disagreement with the airline with the airline and as part of this the pilot, Captain Steven Anderson, refused to do extra work on board flight QF30 from Hong Kong to Melbourne.
6 April - Passengers at Melbourne Airport evacuated amidst security scare
- A man has walked into a secure area at Melbourne Airport, sparking a security scare, causing plane delays and forcing thousands of passengers to be rescreened. According to a report from Qantus, a man walked into the secure area of the airport by going through exit doors, and even though it is not thought he had suspicious intentions, the matter would be referred to the federal police.
Oil prices to force airfare increase?
- With the steady increase in the price of crude oil, airfares and/or fuel surcharges are under pressure to increase prices.
