17 November: QANTAS THANKS ITS MOST LOYAL CUSTOMERS
  • Qantas today announced a range of special offers for its most loyal customers to thank them for their support throughout the recent period of industrial action.
 
14 November: Gama Aviation adds Airbus ACJ 318 - new business aircraft type to global fleet
  • Gama Aviation FZC, the business aviation charter and management company, has added a new business aircraft type to its UAE-based fleet – its first Airbus. The Airbus ACJ318 (was added to its UAE operator’s certificate in October. Configured with a 14 seat VIP configuration, the ACJ becomes the largest aircraft in the company’s Middle East fleet and for Gama globally, its 11th manufacturer type.

  • Flying Lufthansa is now even more rewarding: When purchasing a Lufthansa ticket, MasterCard cardholders can now enjoy US$60 or equivalent in local currency off the best available rate on all fare classes.

27 October: Lufthansa’s new schedule shows moderate growth
  • Lufthansa is adding three new destinations to its route network: Rio de Janeiro, Aberdeen and London Gatwick. From 30 October, the airline will then serve 198 destinations in 82 countries, as compared with 197 destinations in 83 countries in 2010/11.
 
18 October: AASA HOLDS ITS 41ST ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
  • The Airlines Association of Southern Africa (AASA) held its 41st Annual General Meeting and Conference at the Fairmont Zimbali Resort, KwaZulu-Natal on the 14th and 15th October 2011. Over 250 delegates, guests and partners attended the AGM and Conference which focused on the theme : “Directing and Transforming the Future of the Aviation Industry – keeping Air Transport Affordable”.
 
4 October: Airbus to exhibit world’s largest corporate jet cabin at Jet Expo
  • Airbus will exhibit the world’s widest and tallest corporate jet cabin at Jet Expo in Moscow, allowing visitors to experience the new top-end in bizjet comfort and space for themselves. It will display an Airbus ACJ318, offered for VVIP charter by Comlux, which features the comfort and practicality of home and office, plus seating for 19 passengers, which is more than traditional business jets.

8 June: THAI launches Carbon Offset Programme
  • Thai Airways International (THAI) recently became the first Asia Pacific airline to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and has introduced its Carbon Offset Programme. The programme will offer the airline’s passengers the option of offsetting emissions resulting from their air travel when booking flights on the THAI website.
