1time Airline ranked number one for On-Time Performance in July
  • 1time’s commitment to efficiency and customer service has resulted in the airline’s On-Time Performance (OTP) being rated number one among low-cost carriers (LCCs) for the month of July, by Airports Company South Africa (ACSA). 1time’s OTP was rated at 90%, in line with its own OTP targets.

ACSA’s statistics for July related to OTP results for domestic airlines flying out of O.R. Tambo International, Cape Town International, and King Shaka International Airports. OTP is a measurement of whether an aircraft has closed its cabin doors and started push back procedures on time, as advertised by the airline, and within the slot time allocated by the airport authorities.

ACSA’s measurement is carried out in accordance with the Local Access and Transport Area (LATA) universal standard benchmark, which considers a 15 minute deviation from the scheduled time as an on-time departure.

1time’s Chief Executive Officer, Rodney James notes that the airline’s exemplary OTP results for July can be attributed to the company’s focus and commitment to customer satisfaction.

“1time considers our customers’ satisfaction to be of utmost priority, and through minimising delayed flights, we are largely eliminating an area of inconvenience for our customers, and ensuring that their flying experience is seamless and unaffected.”

James adds that 1time’s sustained OTP performance can be attributed to many factors, including quality aircraft maintenance services, efficient passenger and ramp handling, as well as a focus on departure control.

1time performed favourably over the year period that the ACSA survey covered, placing second among LCCs with an average 84.64% OTP.

James concludes that 1time plans to ensure that it improves even further on its OTP results.

“1time is determined to consistently provide the best on-time performance, especially in terms of low-cost carriers, and ensure that the service we provide is of a consistently high and professional standard.

“Thus, we aim to maintain these positive OTP results through a combined effort between passenger services, better ramp handling, quality aircraft maintenance, and ensuring that we always operate reliable aircraft.”
