1Time is Africa's best low cost carrier
- 1time Airline’s consistent success and value for money that it offers its passengers, has once again been acknowledged, as it won the 2011 World Travel Award for Africa’s best low cost airline. This is the third year in a row that the airline has won in this particular category, which is considered one of the highest accolades a low cost carrier can receive in the aviation industry.
Over 213,000 travel industry professionals from 160 countries participated in the voting process for the Awards, which was scrupulously monitored and independently audited. These professionals included travel agencies, tour and transport companies and tourism organisations.
1time Airline’s CEO, Rodney James attributes the award to the airline’s ongoing high level of performance and its commitment to customer service.
“We are honoured to once again receive this prestigious award, which serves as a critical benchmark standard for airlines. The fact that we have won this award for three years running proves that we are on track in terms of our long term commitment to efficiency, innovation and optimised customer service.”
Launched in 1993, the World Travel Awards is a prestigious awards ceremony for airlines, which serves to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry.
The Awards have been described by the Wall Street Journal, as the 'Oscars' of travel and tourism, and have been proven to substantially heighten the international profile of airlines who win, and help contribute to their bottom line by improving consumer confidence.
